Rossmann, a prominent European drugstore chain, has ceased purchasing Tesla vehicles for its fleet, effective immediately, due to CEO Elon Musk's political support for Trump.

Rossmann, a German company, stated that its decision was due to the inconsistency between Elon Musk's statements and the values that Tesla embodies with its products.

"Tesla spokesperson Raoul Rossmann stated that Elon Musk openly supports Donald Trump, despite the company's mission to combat climate change through the manufacture of electric vehicles. Trump has dismissed climate change as a hoax, which contradicts Tesla's efforts to protect the environment."

Rossmann's decision to stop purchasing Tesla EVs, despite only buying 180 electric vehicles annually and having only 38 Teslas in its fleet, indicates that Musk's political decisions are affecting the automaker beyond the U.S.

Last month, Musk publicly supported Trump by endorsing him and contributing funds to a pro-Trump group he founded called America PAC. Additionally, Trump revealed on Tuesday that Musk will be interviewing him.

In June, during a debate with President Biden, former President Trump evaded questions about his plans to address climate change. Trump has labeled climate change a "hoax." He has also pledged to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate agreement if he is re-elected in November.

Despite a recent increase in Republican favorability towards Elon Musk following his acquisition of Twitter, research by Pew shows that Musk's reputation among left-leaning voters has decreased, even though they are more likely to purchase electric vehicles.

Tesla's automotive revenue decreased by 7% to $19.9 billion in the second quarter of 2021, compared to $21.27 billion in the same quarter the previous year. This decline was partly attributed to Elon Musk's "antics" and "political rants," as revealed in a recent survey.

In 2022, Tesla established a factory in Brandenburg, Germany, which currently employs thousands of people in the country. By the end of 2023, Rossmann reported having over 4,700 stores and more than 60,000 employees, with approximately half of them based in Germany.

In Germany, environmental activists have opposed Tesla's plans to clear part of a forest and use water for manufacturing in Brandenburg. Musk responded by calling the protesters "either the dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth or they're puppets of those who don't have good environmental goals," in a statement on X in March.

On Thursday morning, Tesla, Musk, and Rossmann's representatives did not provide additional information when requested.
