The sales of the country fashion staple increased by more than 20% in the week following the release of the music superstar's "Cowboy Carter" album, indicating potential good news for companies producing items with a Wild West aesthetic, according to consumer behavior firm Circana.
""16 Carriages" and "Texas Hold 'Em," two singles from "Cowboy Carter," which was released late last month, led to a notable increase in unit sales for this style of boot, according to Circana."
The 32-time Grammy winner's latest project has contributed to a growing cultural trend of embracing stagecoach-inspired styles. Earlier this year, the artist unveiled an American Western line during Paris Fashion Week, featuring models in cowboy hats, bolo ties, and other western-inspired clothing. This style has also gained popularity through the ongoing Eras Tour, as some attendees choose to channel Taylor Swift's pre-pop days as a country singer.
Retailers and industry followers have already taken note of the trend.
According to Williams analyst Sam Poser, Beyoncé's chart-topping album can help boost same-store sales and attract women shoppers at . He upgraded his rating on the California-based retailer to buy on Thursday and raised his price target by $33 to $113, implying an upside of about 12%.
Poser stated that the commencement of busy seasons for rodeos and music festivals, along with the positive trends, would result in guidance for the current quarter and full fiscal year surpassing Wall Street consensus estimates.
There is little doubt that the increased attention on Western clothing is correlated with the release of Beyoncé's eighth studio album, Poser said.
Despite the broader market's decline, Boot Barn shares have surged more than 4% since April, and have increased by approximately 30% throughout 2024.
'Really trending'
Other pieces can also embody the Western style, not just cowboy boots.
Earlier this month, CEO Michelle Gass informed analysts that Levi's Jeans, a song on the Cowboy Carter album featuring Post Malone, helped the denim maker maintain its cultural relevance.
Gass stated on the company's earnings call last week that having Beyoncé, a culture shaper, name a song after us is the best evidence or proof point.
Denim is currently experiencing a surge in popularity, with the Western style being particularly influential in both fashion and music, according to Gass.
Despite the recent market slide, denim suppliers have not been able to avoid the decline in sales. In April, Levi Strauss shares dropped more than 3%, while Wrangler, a brand under the company, experienced a 11% decline in sales.
