Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump organization and son of president-elect Donald Trump, believes that a set of "sensible" regulatory guidelines can help make the U.S. a cryptocurrency superpower.

In an interview with CNBC's Dan Murphy in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Eric Trump stated that he has been a supporter of cryptocurrency for a long time and his father plans to establish the United States as the global hub for cryptocurrency upon his return to the presidency.

The price of bitcoin, the world's largest cryptocurrency, surpassed $100,000 for the first time, and his comments followed shortly.

The milestone was celebrated as a significant achievement for digital assets, with investors becoming more confident that the new U.S. administration will establish the crypto industry's position in financial markets.

Bitcoin, which has experienced a remarkable increase of 137% year-to-date, has recently fallen below the six-figure mark. As per Coin Metrics, the flagship digital currency was last traded at approximately $99,808.62.

Eric Trump stated that the modern banking system is outdated and that it's only a matter of time before crypto surpasses it. He expressed excitement on various fronts.

I believe America will become the global hub for cryptocurrency. I completely support this viewpoint. My father shares the same sentiment. As a family, we are fully committed to this movement. We have faith in decentralized finance and see it as the way forward. In my opinion, America should take the lead in this space to ensure we don't miss out on the opportunities that lie ahead.

Decentralized finance, or DeFi, is a system of applications that use cryptocurrency to replicate traditional financial instruments.

Donald Trump, the newly elected president, has revealed plans to nominate Paul Atkins as the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This move could fulfill one of his campaign promises to the crypto industry: to replace Gary Gensler, who has been criticized for his regulation-by-enforcement approach to the industry under his leadership.

Eric Trump responded to the question about his father's plans for regulatory or deregulatory measures in the crypto space by stating, "It appears to be transparent. That's how it will be implemented."

Eric Trump stated that the crypto industry is frustrated because there is no plan for regulating the industry. While they are not opposed to regulation, they simply want guidelines.

"We will have a clear road map, and we hope the rest of the world follows it. We hope to lead by example as Americans, and we believe we should do so. We also hope we are truly the crypto superpower of the world," he said.

A 'modern-day Albert Einstein'

Elon Musk will play a significant role in shaping the White House's policy agenda, according to Eric Trump, who referred to the billionaire technology leader as "the modern-day Albert Einstein."

Vivek Ramaswamy, founder of Roivant Sciences, has been named by Donald Trump as a co-leader of an efficiency drive aimed at reducing government spending, streamlining regulations, and restructuring agencies.

Eric Trump stated, "We desire efficiency, productivity, and innovation. We want government to stay out of the way of successful businesses. Let capitalism flourish and allow the greatest democracy in the world to function."

Unfortunately, America hasn't been that way in the last four years, and it's going to return to that. However, I believe Elon will play a significant part in ensuring that it happens.
