Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chairman, will be part of a panel with his global counterparts at the European Central Bank forum on Tuesday.

Christine Lagarde, Roberto Campos Neto, and Sara Eisen will discuss central bank policymaking at the ECB Forum on Central Banking in Sintra, Portugal. The forum will be closely watched by investors for insights on how central bank policymakers will respond to global inflation dynamics.

Despite inflation rates being higher than expected, the Powell-led Fed has kept its main policy rate unchanged for the past year. Meanwhile, the Lagarde-led ECB and Neto's bank both made cuts to their rates, with the ECB reducing its rate by a quarter point to 4.25% and Neto's bank cutting its primary rate by a quarter point to 10.5%.

The Fed is predicted by traders to begin cutting in September, with another reduction by the end of the year, and quarterly reductions continuing until at least September 2025. However, Fed officials in June stated that they anticipate only one reduction this year.

The Fed is not cutting rates, according to the creator of the 'Sahm Rule' recession indicator.
