On Thursday, Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chair, will address business leaders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area about monetary policy. His speech will be followed by a Q-and-A session.
After policymakers voted to lower their key interest rate by 25 basis points, the appearance of the federal funds rate came one week later, falling within the range of 4.5% to 4.75%.
Despite economic readings this week, inflation has remained stubbornly high, with consumer price inflation at 2.6% and prices at the wholesale level at 2.4%. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy costs, has shown even higher measures.
The Fed is expected to cut interest rates again in December, with a possibility of skipping the January meeting to evaluate the impact of previous policy-easing moves.
Inflation rate reached 2.6% in October, as anticipated. Powell and the Fed will eventually have to address Trump's actions. Despite appearing to ease, inflation remains a significant issue.
