A report suggests that Trump may appoint Kevin Warsh as both the Treasury chief and Fed chair at a later date.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, President-elect Donald Trump is considering naming Kevin Warsh as Treasury secretary and then sending him off to serve as Federal Reserve chair.
According to the Journal, sources familiar with Trump's thinking indicate that a former Fed governor, Warsh, will replace current Chair Jerome Powell as head of the central bank after Powell's term expires in 2026.
Trump has not yet announced his intention for the last major Cabinet position, which is the Treasury.
One of the finalists for the Federal Reserve chair position, along with Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan and hedge fund manager Scott Bessent, could see Bessent leading the National Economic Council initially before transitioning to the Treasury department after Warsh assumes the Fed chair role.
Trump is known for frequently changing his mind, and the report stated that no finalization has been made.
