On Monday, Huawei's website revealed that over 2.7 million pre-orders have been placed for its tri-fold smartphone.

The Chinese company started pre-orders for its Mate XT on Saturday, two days before the planned iPhone 16 launch in Beijing time.

Huawei has yet to reveal the price of the Mate XT, which is set to be officially launched on Sept. 20 at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the second quarter, Apple fell out of the top five smartphone vendors in China, with domestic players holding all five positions, according to Canalys.

According to Canalys, Huawei ranked fourth in market share with 10.6 million smartphones shipped.

In the first quarter, Apple shipped 10 million phones, making it one of the top five vendors whose shipments were shared by the firm.

While Huawei and its Chinese competitors offer folding and flip phones, Apple has not yet entered those markets.
