According to comments from rotating chairman Ken Hu in an internal new year message seen by Reuters, Huawei Technologies anticipates generating revenue of more than 700 billion yuan ($98.5 billion) in 2023.

The revenue growth rate from 642.3 billion yuan in 2022 to the current year is approximately 9%.

The evidence suggests that Huawei is recovering from the impact of U.S. sanctions, which began in 2019 and limited its access to essential global technologies such as advanced chips.

Hu expressed gratitude to their partners and team members for their unwavering support and perseverance.

Despite years of strenuous effort, we've successfully navigated the challenges and are now back on course.

In a message to staff, Hu announced that Huawei's device business segment, including its smartphone business, had exceeded expectations in 2023.

In August, Huawei launched its Mate60 series of smartphones, which are rumored to be powered by a domestically developed chipset. The release was widely seen as a comeback into the high-end smartphone market for Huawei, after years of struggling under U.S. sanctions.

In October, the Chinese smartphone market experienced a 11% growth, with Huawei's smartphone shipments increasing by 83% year-on-year, according to Counterpoint.

In the letter, Huawei stated that it would prioritize the device business as a major expansion focus in the future, looking ahead to 2024.

The letter emphasized the need for our device business to intensify its dedication to producing exceptional products and establishing a premium brand with a personal touch.

Still, Huawei acknowledged in the letter that it faces significant challenges.

Hu remarked that geopolitical and economic uncertainties persist, and technology limitations and trade obstacles still affect the global landscape.

Hu stated that Huawei would prioritize enhancing the effectiveness of its business operations by implementing measures such as streamlining headquarters, simplifying management, and maintaining consistent policies, while making necessary adjustments.
