The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is being revamped following changes to the consumer American Express Hilton cards. New and existing cardholders now have access to statement credits, revamped reward rates, and rental car status.
Hilton Honors American Express Business Card changes
Annual fee
Increased welcome bonus
From June 5, 2024 to June 5, 2025, new cardholders can earn 175,000 Hilton points (an increase of 45,000 points from the previous welcome bonus) after spending $8,000 in eligible purchases on the card during the first six months after opening the account. Experts generally value Hilton points at 0.6 cents per point, which makes this bonus worth more than $1,000 in Hilton stays.
New benefits
- Enrolling in the Free National Emerald Club Executive program grants you access to perks such as complimentary rental days and priority service (membership required).
Benefits that are ending or changing
Lounge access end dates
The phasing out of the 10 free Priority Pass lounge visits benefit for existing cardholders will be done in the following manner:
- If you enrolled in Priority Pass between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, your membership will expire on April 1, 2025.
Free night awards end date
Eligible purchases made with a Hilton Business Card before June 30, 2024, will qualify for earning Free Night Rewards. Spending $15,000 on the card before that date will earn a free night, and an additional $45,000 spent ($60,000 in total) before the same date will result in a second free night.
6X bonus categories end date
Previously, the Hilton Business Card earned 6X points on purchases at:
- U.S restaurants
- Airfare booked directly with an airline or through American Express Travel
- Rental cars booked directly from select car rental companies
- U.S. gas stations
- U.S. shipping services
- U.S. wireless telephone services
Benefits that will stay the same
Hilton Business Card holders will continue to receive these benefits and perks:
- Complimentary Hilton Gold status
- Hilton Diamond status after spending $40,000 on your card in a calendar year
- 12X points on purchases directly with hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio
- Baggage insurance
- Rental car loss and damage insurance (secondary)
- No foreign transaction fees (see rates and fees)
What this means for you
Who benefits the most
Individuals who did not spend much using their card's 6X bonus categories may now earn more rewards as all purchases (excluding those made directly with hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio) will now earn 5X points on the first $100,000 spent each year (then 3X). Prior to the update, cardholders only earned 3X points on popular categories such as groceries.
