Mini tote bags available at Trader Joe's for $2.99, but only for a limited time.
Trader Joe's viral mini tote bags will soon be back in stock.
The popular supermarket chain's representative confirmed to CNBC Make It that the colorful canvas bags, which have been out of stock since their launch in March, will be restocked on September 18.
The popularity of totes skyrocketed when they were first introduced, prompting a frenzy among shoppers to acquire the limited stock. Certain Trader Joe's outlets imposed restrictions on the number of bags customers could purchase.
Trader Joe's $2.99 bags, available in green, red, yellow, and blue, became so popular that they were being sold on eBay for hundreds of dollars.
If you missed out on the mini tote from Trader Joe's in March, be prepared to act quickly when they are restocked, as they may not be available for long.
A representative for the chain informed CNBC Make It that the totes are not an everyday product but rather a limited one at present.
In the "Insider Trader Joe's" podcast episode released after the tote bag craze, host Matt Sloan stated that the supermarket was caught off guard by the bags' popularity. Originally, the supermarket believed they had enough stock to last "several weeks."
""We were unprepared for the sheer excitement and volume of customers that would come in and out within a week, with hundreds of thousands of bags," he admitted."
