Indeed has ranked the health sector as one of the top job markets in 2025, with high demand for workers and competitive pay, according to a new report.

According to Indeed, five health care roles rank among the top 25 jobs for 2025, including physician (No. 3), clinical psychologist (No. 8), radiologist (No. 14), registered nurse (No. 18), and director of clinical services (No. 22).

Health care has the highest share of top jobs relative to other sectors for the second year in a row.

Veterinarians were ranked No. 1 in the animal-focused health care role, according to Indeed.

Indeed analyzed jobs based on three criteria: a minimum salary of $75,000, growth in postings of at least 20%, and remote or hybrid roles for at least 5%. The jobs were ranked according to their share of postings on Indeed.

ZipRecruiter's chief economist, Julia Pollak, stated that health care has experienced "incredible" job growth.

In 2024, the U.S. economy experienced a growth of 902,000 jobs in the health care and social assistance sector, which is significantly higher than the government sector's addition of 480,000 jobs, as per the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the growth rate of total employment in health care occupations will be significantly higher than the average for all U.S. jobs from 2023 to 2033.

A career expert at Indeed, Jennifer Herrity, stated that numerous factors create ample job opportunities in the sector.

The aging U.S. population increases the demand for healthcare services, while the retirement of healthcare workers has resulted in shortages in certain roles. Additionally, healthcare jobs are less likely to be replaced by artificial intelligence compared to other industries such as software developers and engineers, according to Herrity.

'Surprisingly high' salaries, high barrier to entry

Surprisingly high paying health care jobs have resulted from strong labor demand, according to Pollak.

The typical physician earns $225,000 a year, the second-highest salary on Indeed's list.

According to Indeed's 2025 list, health care is a highly attractive field due to its high salaries and history of stability, despite the high barrier to entry, particularly for roles like radiology, which require a minimum of 13 years of school.

Many companies hiring sales reps may consider applicants with a high school diploma and the right mix of skills, Indeed said. Sales reps have a median annual salary of $182,000, according to Indeed.
