By prioritizing employees, this entrepreneur launched a thriving start-up.
Alina Vandenberghe emphasizes the importance of prioritizing employee needs, particularly during periods of international instability.
Chili Piper, a start-up founded in 2016 by a Romanian native and her husband, has software that helps companies like Salesforce, Hubspot, and Zoom improve their scheduling and streamline their contact forms. The Vandenberghes chose to keep Chili Piper fully remote, and now employ over 220 people across 40 countries, including some in Ukraine and Russia.
Vandenberghe stated that ensuring the safety and well-being of employees in Russia and Ukraine, as well as providing them with the necessary resources to perform their jobs, is of utmost importance to him. Despite potential delays in launching certain products or financials due to the absence of those products for marketing, Vandenberghe emphasized that these challenges are minor in comparison to the difficulties faced by these individuals.
To run a successful remote-only company, Vandenberghe recommends prioritizing employees, providing flexible working hours and the ability to work from desirable locations, and traveling to every country where you plan to hire in order to understand cultural differences.
